Local, trusted, accountable
Patio Company in Airdrie
Prestige Paving & Landscaping Ltd has been laying patios, paths and driveways across Central Scotland for over 20 years, and Airdrie and the Monklands are a regular part of our work. From Petersburn and Chapelside to Cairnhill and Glenmavis, the same small team looks after your job from start to finish.
Airdrie’s high, exposed ground means a patio has to cope with frost and heavy rain. We excavate properly, compact a stone sub-base in layers and bed every slab fully in mortar, with a fall that carries rain away from the house.
- Honest advice and no pushy sales
- Clear, fixed prices in writing
- A careful crew who clean up properly
- Paving samples brought to your garden
Garden patios in Airdrie
Patio Installation in Airdrie
Turn your back garden into a proper outdoor living space with a level, dry patio built to last for years.

We lay patios all over Airdrie, from Petersburn and Clarkston to Cairnhill and Whinhall, and out to Glenmavis and Plains. Whether it’s a small seating area or a large patio with paths, steps and lawns, we’ll help you choose the paving, layout and size.
We dig out the ground, compact a crushed-stone sub-base and lay every slab on a full mortar bed rather than spot-bedding it, so nothing can rock or crack. The joints are then pointed neatly to keep weeds and water out.
Falls are set to carry water to a lawn, border or drain, with the patio kept safely below your damp-proof course.
Patio Styles
Natural sandstone
Indian sandstone and riven flagstones in warm buffs, greys and autumn tones. Every slab is unique.
Porcelain paving
Sleek, hard-wearing and stain-resistant, with a clean modern look and very little upkeep.
Two-tone designs
Contrasting slabs, dark banding and lawn insets that turn a plain patio into a feature.
Block paved patios
Monoblock patios and seating areas laid in herringbone or basketweave, ideal for heavy use.
Paths & steps
Matching paths, steps and landings that link the patio to the rest of the garden.
Sleepers & edging
Timber sleeper beds, raised edges and neat borders to frame the patio and hold back soil.
How we build it
From bare ground to finished patio
All of our Airdrie patios follow the same six steps, whatever the paving. Here are some of the finished jobs.

Free survey & design
We visit, measure up, check levels and drainage, and help you choose the paving, layout and size. You get a fixed written price.
Dig-out & prep
We excavate to the right depth, take away the waste and set out the levels so the patio sits safely below your damp-proof course.
Compacted sub-base
Crushed stone is laid and compacted in layers to give a firm foundation that won’t settle or sink.
Full mortar bed
Each slab is laid on a full bed of mortar, levelled and set to a fall so rainwater runs away from the house.
Pointing & edging
Joints are pointed neatly and edges finished with blocks, kerbs or sleepers so the patio looks crisp and stays weed-free.
Clean-up & handover
We clear every bit of waste, wash the patio down and walk you round the finished job.
Local know-how
Patios for every type of garden
From Victorian villas around Cairnhill to post-war homes and new estates, Airdrie gardens vary a lot, and many slope. We design every patio around your space and levels.
Small back gardens
Smart layouts and lawn insets that make smaller back gardens in Petersburn, Chapelside and Holehills feel bigger.
Sloping gardens
Airdrie is hilly in places. Steps, retaining edges and terraces turn a sloping garden into a flat, usable patio.
New-build gardens
Many newer Airdrie homes come with a small slab area and thin turf. We replace it with a proper patio and lawn.
Dining & seating areas
Patios sized to fit a table, a sofa set or a barbecue, with room to move around them.
Wet or heavy ground
Where heavy ground holds water, we add deeper bases, channel drains and soakaways so the patio stays dry.
Garden rooms & pergolas
Solid, level bases for garden rooms, pergolas and summerhouses, finished to match the patio.

Natural stone patios
Natural Stone Patios in Airdrie
Natural stone complements Airdrie’s Victorian sandstone villas beautifully. We lay Indian sandstone and riven flagstones in buff, grey, autumn and mixed tones.
Natural stone needs to be laid properly: on a full mortar bed, with a priming coat where needed and joints pointed carefully so the stone doesn’t stain or work loose. Done right, it lasts for generations.
- Indian sandstone and riven flagstones
- Laid on a full mortar bed, never spot-bedded
- Optional cleaning and sealing to protect the colour

Porcelain & slab patios
Porcelain Patios in Airdrie
Porcelain gives a crisp, contemporary look with almost no upkeep. It’s very hard-wearing, resists stains and moss, and stays looking new for years.
We also lay textured concrete slabs, which give a similar look at a lower cost. Whichever you choose, the slabs are laid on a full bed with a slurry primer where needed, so they bond properly and stay put.
- Porcelain and textured concrete slabs
- Stain-resistant and very low maintenance
- Clean, modern finish in greys, buffs and charcoals

Two-tone patio designs
Patio Designs in Airdrie
A two-tone patio turns a plain paved area into a real feature. Contrasting slab colours, dark block banding and lawn insets break the patio up, frame seating areas and guide you through the garden.
On one recent job we laid Brookstone slabs in Sky and Meadow Stone in a two-tone pattern with new lawns. We’ll sketch your layout with you at the survey.
- Contrasting slabs and banding
- Lawn or artificial grass insets
- Layouts planned with you before we start

Block paved patios
Block Paved Patios in Airdrie
For a hard-wearing patio that copes with family life, garden rooms and heavy use, block paving is ideal. It can be laid in herringbone, basketweave or a simple stretcher pattern with a contrasting border.
Like our driveways, block paved patios are laid on a compacted sub-base with edging set in concrete, then jointed with kiln-dried sand and compacted so the blocks lock together.
- Herringbone, basketweave and stretcher patterns
- Contrasting borders and banding
- Strong enough for garden rooms and heavy use

Paths, steps & edging
Garden Paths & Steps in Airdrie
On Airdrie’s sloping plots, well-built paths and steps make the whole garden easier to use. We lay matching slab and block paths, build steps and landings on sloping plots, and finish edges with sleepers, kerbs or decorative stone.
Paths are laid on the same solid base as our patios, with falls and edging so they stay level, drain well and don’t creep into the lawn.
- Slab, block and natural stone paths
- Steps, landings and handrails
- Timber sleepers, kerbs and gravel edging

Patio cleaning & repairs
Patio Repairs in Airdrie
A worn patio doesn’t always need replacing. If the slabs are sound, a clean, re-point and seal, or re-laying loose or sunken slabs, can bring it back for far less than a new one.
If a patio has failed because it was spot-bedded or laid without a proper base, we’ll tell you honestly that re-laying it is the lasting fix.
- Loose, rocking and sunken slabs re-laid
- Power washing, re-pointing and sealing
- Drainage problems and standing water fixed

Garden landscaping
Landscaping in Airdrie
Once the patio is finished, many Airdrie customers want the rest of the garden to match. Because we do the hard and soft landscaping ourselves, you get one team, one quote and one finish that ties everything together.
- New turf and artificial grass
- Borders, edging and decorative stone
- Timber sleeper beds, fencing and full garden makeovers

Driveways too
Driveways in Airdrie
We lay driveways across Airdrie as well: monoblock, resin-bound, tarmac and gravel, all built on the same properly dug-out, compacted base. Plenty of customers have their patio and driveway done together so the paving matches front and back.

Good to know
Patio questions we’re often asked
How much does a new patio cost in Airdrie?
It depends on the size of the patio, how much ground needs to come out, access to the back garden and the paving you go for. Block paving and concrete slabs are the lower-cost options; natural stone and porcelain cost more but look superb. We survey Airdrie gardens free of charge and give you a fixed written price.
Is natural stone or porcelain best for a patio?
Both are great choices. Natural sandstone has a warm, traditional look with natural variation, while porcelain gives a crisp modern finish that resists stains and needs very little care. We bring samples to the survey so you can compare them in your own garden.
Will I need planning permission for a patio in Airdrie?
Normally not for a ground-level patio in a back garden. Raised patios, front gardens, listed buildings and conservation areas can be different, and rainwater needs to drain within your property. We’ll advise when we visit.
How long does a patio installation take?
Most patios in Airdrie take between two and five days. Bigger jobs with steps, retaining walls, paths or new lawns take a bit longer, and we’ll confirm the timescale before starting.
Can new slabs go on top of an old patio?
We don’t recommend it. It raises the level towards your damp-proof course and leaves the old problems underneath. We lift the existing patio, rebuild the base and lay the new one properly.
How do you deal with drainage on a hilly site?
Airdrie has plenty of sloping gardens. We lay every patio to a fall away from the house, and use steps, retaining edges, channel drains or soakaways so water is carried safely away.
What upkeep does a patio need?
Very little: a sweep and an occasional wash. Natural stone benefits from a clean and seal every few years, and porcelain needs almost nothing. We also offer patio cleaning, re-pointing and sealing across Airdrie.
